Midtown in Focus - Proposed Secondary Plan

Welcome to the Midtown in Focus Survey on the Proposed Yonge-Eglinton Secondary Plan!

The proposed Yonge-Eglinton Secondary Plan is setting in place a road map for Midtown’s continued evolution over the next 25-30 years. The Plan provides detailed direction for the physical development of Midtown’s diverse communities and sets priorities for investing in and sustaining a complete, liveable community.

The proposed Secondary Plan includes policies that address:
  • Vision and objectives for the area’s evolution
  • Growth and infrastructure
  • Public realm improvements
  • Park provision and priorities
  • The scale and form of tall buildings and where tall buildings are located
  • Sunlight protection and mitigating wind impact
  • Transition
  • Office priority areas
  • Retail streets
  • Community services and facilities (e.g. schools, child care and community centres)
  • Affordable housing and unit mix
  • Mobility including walking and cycling
  • Resiliency
  • Detailed direction for 22 character areas
  • Section 37 benefits, the use of Holding By-laws and other implementation tools

The proposed Secondary Plan policies are a reflection of over two years of research, analysis and public engagement. Hundreds of residents and employees in the Yonge-Eglinton area have shared their priorities for the future of Midtown.

Now we are looking for your feedback on the proposed Secondary Plan policies before it is presented to Council in May 2018.
